HMA is sharply focused on managed healthcare and employee benefits administration. HMA has successfully redefined the role of out-sourcing the administration of employee benefit health plans. HMA provides a fully integrated line of products and services nationwide. In 2001, HMA established an office in Honolulu Hawaii, and currently provides Third-Party Administration (TPA) services to many prominent local self-funded employer groups, and Health and Welfare Trust Funds.

Hawaii-Mainland Administrators is one of the largest Third-Party Administrators (TPA) of self-funded and fully insured health plans throughout Hawaii and the US continental southwest.

For over 30 years, HMA has provided services including claims adjudication, medical management, technology infrastructure, and customer service to Employers, Payers, Taft-Hartley Trust Plans, Native American Tribes and more. Utilizing a variety of exceptional services, including complete healthcare management software, data warehouses, specialized software applications, and advanced optical scanning software, HMA offers our clients a wide range of services and solutions.

HMA Timeline

In 1983, HMA was founded and headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. Sharply focused on managed healthcare and employee benefits, HMA successfully redefined the role of out-sourcing the administration of employee benefit health plans.

In 2001, HMA established an additional location in Hawaii and currently provides Third-Party Administration (TPA) services to many prominent local self-funded employer groups, and Health and Welfare Trust Funds.

In 2004, HMA integrates i/mx Technologies a proprietary software company, to develop software to handle all lines of business, including claims adjudication.

In 2007, Most recently,  i.sys System, our browser-based application provides advanced processing logic for health plan payers, health care providers, administrators, managed care organizations, and insurance companies.

In 2010, MultiPlan acquires HMA, Inc. but sold its third-party administrator business to Hawaii-Mainland Administrators, LLC (HMA, LLC).

In 2013, HMA wins the TPA contract for its first commercial health insurance carrier, Family Health Hawaii.
