Leao Light is Vice President of Business and Network Development for HMA and it’s subsidiary organizations. Throughout his career at HMA, Leao has worked to transform the company into a leader in essential health care services focused on creating an outstanding overall experience for each customer.

Light oversees TPA operations, Provider networks, Provider-related managed care, customer service strategies, and national account operations. In addition, he leads HMA’s Health Service Leadership Program. Mr. Light’s comprehensive understanding of health care from the payer and provider’s perspective enables him to offer balanced thinking and long-term solutions to meet client needs. Leao is accountable for national contracting and provider strategy, vendor, ancillary and facility contracting, network contracting and management, and the provider data organization.

Mr. Light previously played a critical role in building effective Provider networks at United Healthcare. Light was responsible for United’s government (Medicare and Medicaid) managed care accounts, commercial health plans, self-funded health plan operations, and unique ACO-like project development.

During his career, Leao has held numerous leadership roles for HMA. Light spent several years with HMA in different operations and client services positions. Prior to joining HMA, Light held senior administrative positions within Centura Health’s predecessor system, Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. Light also has held leadership positions with PacifiCare, Southern Colorado Health Plan, and FHP Health Center.

Leao holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Biology and Chemistry. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from St. Louis University.
